More sketches from Jason.

The rumors are true.

The leaking has begun.

Slowly.

Since it's out there in the I'll post here. One post today and you might as well talk about it. Hard to keep secrets on the internet.
It's true, Mr. Phelps The Space Detective will be in the "FELL" format.

It's a great concept so why not? 16+ pages of jam-packed comic for a low, low price. Mr. Phelps The Space Detective will be under $2 and AT LEAST 18 pages of story each issue. I don't have exact details yet for #1, but I am working to push the FELL Format a bit and see if I can't fit even more stuff for the same price.

All credit for this goes to Warren Ellis for pioneering the cool idea with FELL. [There's a full issue online at that link/Image Comics, read it.]

And of course to the very talented Matt Fraction with his Casanova deserves more than a little credit. You know I have great love for Matt, he was kind enough to do the quote at the beginning of my book Family Bones #1.

Now it's up to us to make sure the story lives up to the promise.

Mr. Phelps The Space Detective.

Here's Mr. Phelp's ship the "DeForest".

Welcome to Mr. Phelps : The Space Detective Comic Book Blog

Here is where you're most likely to find new info on the Mr. Phelps comic book series. We're starting out with a three issue mini-series called Mr. Phelps The Space Detective. It's written by me, Shawn Granger, and art by Jason May.

This sketch is of the title character, Mr. Phelps by Jason May.

Mr. Phelps The Space Detective tells the tale of a hard boiled space detective roaming the universe looking for trouble. An ex-military special ops for planet Earth's Asian Alliance, Mr. Phelps started a detective agency after leaving the military...and the planet. He doesn't talk much about why he left, but he doesn't plan on going back.

He's often joined by Kit Kat, a catwoman from the planet Femur. She's quite attractive for someone with long whiskers.

Mr. Phelps The Space Detective is a smart sci-fi comic book that isn't too mature for kids but not too dumb for adults. The perfect all ages book for the entire family.
